Early Chilhood Practitioner

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Early Education, Birth - 12

Languages spoken:

English

Area of work:

Children 0-9

Experience:

While finishing my degree and for some time afterward, I worked full-time as a Support Worker. This experience was primarily in a supported living home with three women, and I also supported clients in their homes and workplaces. After this, I worked at Independent Kids as a Therapy Assistant for one year. This role involved working closely with Occupational Therapists on developing and implementing therapy plans, which gave me the opportunity to learn from practitioners and deepen my understanding of intervention in therapeutic and clinical settings. I then began the Early Childhood Practitioner and Key Worker role at Independent Kids and Adults in August 2023.

What I love about my work:

I love the ongoing problem-solving, creativity, and flexible thinking that this role demands. Watching children respond positively to strengths-based interventions and seeing measurable growth is incredibly rewarding. I also enjoy learning from parents and having the opportunity to educate and empower them to support their child. The process of identifying areas of need, developing and executing therapeutic interventions is very involved, empowering, and fulfilling.”
