Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists work with people of all ages to do the everyday things that matter most. This can be at home, in the community, at school, or at work. Occupational Therapists are specifically trained to assess environments and skills to reduce any barriers to being able to do everyday tasks. At Independent Kids and Adults, we have occupational therapists who see children and adults.
Occupational Therapists provide guidance on:
-
Daily activities - getting dressed, eating, and personal care
-
Work and school tasks - focusing, handwriting, and following routines
-
Social participation - making friends and engaging with others
-
Accessing the community - shopping, travel, and safety
-
Home - managing and organising home-based activities and recommending how to ensure the environment matches a person's needs.
Check out our video below! You can share it with your young person to show them what to expect when visiting an Occupational Therapist. It’s a great way to make the experience feel familiar and comfortable.
