Tonya Gilbett

Hi, I’m Tonya,

I qualified as an Occupational Therapist nearly 30 years ago after completing a B.App.Sc (OT) at Sydney University.

About 14 years ago myself and my family left Sydney and moved to Tasmania for a quieter, more nature-filled lifestyle.

My skill base as OT is broad with experience working in both acute and rehabilitation, in hospital and community settings. I have worked with adults with a range of illnesses, diseases and disabilities, often complicated by the presence of multiple medical conditions at one time. I have experience working in mental health, traumatic brain injury, neurology, orthopedics, aged care, renal, palliative care, and with people with chronic illness and degenerative neurological disorders. I have also worked as an OT in Workers Compensation and Occupational Health and Safety and more recently under NDIS.

I believe in the power one person can have to make a difference and how the right support can change someone’s life.

I am excited to now be working as an Occupational Therapist with Independent Kids and Adults OT and to be part of such a supportive and dynamic team.
