Hi, I’m Bec.
I moved to Hobart from Adelaide in mid 2019 to join Independent kids. I graduated with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy in 2003 from UniSA, a Master of Occupational Therapy (paediatrics) in 2013 from Sydney University and a Graduate Diploma in Arts Psychotherapy in 2017. I like using a variety of modalities to work towards client goals including kid’s yoga and mindfulness, aquatic therapy, art and nature therapy as well as more traditional approaches. I am passionate about the relationship between the arts and health, creativity and wellbeing and I also offer art therapy specific sessions and one on one yoga therapy. You will also find me running a few therapy groups. I believe the best way to learn is through playful exploration!
I was fortunate to be the first OT in South Australia to be employed fulltime by a school, and I’ve also worked in private practices and NGO’s in Australia, and overseas in a disability arts organisation as the only OT in Cambodia! I’ve also enjoyed working as a university clinical educator training OT students. Before moving here, I worked as an access coordinator for the second largest Fringe festival in the world supporting artist and patrons with disability to access the arts! I love living in Tasmania with my two affectionate cats, Frankie and Theo, and enjoy water colour painting, yoga, photography, crosswords and getting out in the natural environment when I can!
