Helping Children with Autism (HCWA)

Children under the age of 7 who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder are eligible to access FaHCSIA funding under the Helping Children With Autism package. To be eligible you need to have a diagnosis and have registered with Autism Tasmania, prior to your childs 6th birthday. This amount is up to $12,000 with a maximum of $6,000 per financial year being able to be used.

Better Start

Children under the age of 7 who have any one of the diagnosis listed below can access funding under the Better Start Initiative:

  • Down Syndrome

  • Cerebral Palsy

  • Fragile X syndrome

  • Hearing or vision impairment

  • Prader Willi syndrome

  • Williams syndrome

  • Angelman syndrome

  • Kabuki syndrome

  • Smith-Magenis syndrome

  • CHARGE syndrome

  • Cornelia de Lange syndrome

  • Cri du Chat syndrome

  • Rett's syndrome

  • microcephaly

  • To be eligible you need to be have registered with Carers Tasmania prior to your childs 6th birthday.
