Ashton
Hi, my name is Ashton,

When I was 2 years old, I was diagnosed with ASD. I started as a client at Independent Kids and Adults (formerly known as IKOT) back at the old Elizabeth Street office when I was 4 years old seeing Rachel Reid. In late 2020 I was offered a position here as an admin assistant at independent kids and adults and have started working here since January 2021 where I help with the monthly account statements and other odd jobs that “nobody else wants to do.” Such as renaming old files or scanning.

Although I don’t interact with clients often if there is a kid who’s done a good job and needs a sticker, I’m certainly up for the task to help locate the right sticker to make their day as it made mine back when I was kid.

I’m currently a full-time student living with my Mum, Dad and the feline lotte. I plan on studying for a bachelor’s in business once I enter university. My hobbies include playing video/board games, procrastinating, going to the gym with my support worker and socializing out in Hobart CBD with my friends after school.

I love working here as even if its in a small way I get to help such a wonderful organization who has help me be able to get rid of my weaknesses and train my strengths and to be able to contribute to helping other people of any age get the same help I did as I grew up then so they can be the best version of themselves.
